A stay-at-home dad interested in real estate, Lenny’s adventure into the world of A-frame homes was nothing short of inspiring. Although he had little experience in construction, what he lacked in expertise, he made up for with passion and determination.

Choosing the SOLO+ 100 A-frame model

Lenny wasn’t just looking for a tiny home – he wanted something he could shape into his vision. After reviewing various models, including Avrame’s TRIO and DUO series and offerings from competitors, he chose the SOLO+ 100 for two key reasons: simplicity and flexibility.

“I liked the fact that it wasn’t designed to be finished in a specific way,” Lenny explained. “With some other house plans, you are stuck with their specifications, but with the SOLO+ models, I could modify it easily to create the space I envisioned.”

For Lenny, the freedom to adjust the floor plan meant a lot: “Instead of running the loft the entire length of the house, I ran it halfway to the back. It allowed for a vaulted ceiling, which really gave the space a grander feel – even though we’re talking about a home that’s under 500 square feet.”

From furniture assembly to an A-frame home

Lenny’s enthusiasm for DIY projects began with assembling furniture, but building an A-frame home was a whole new challenge. When he first bought the property, he was unsure what to do with it. He briefly considered selling it, but then he came across Avrame’s SOLO+ models, and that changed everything.

“The instructions were as simple as putting together a dresser,” Lenny said with a laugh. “I loved the templates for cutting the lumber. When I saw those, I knew I could handle it. It made me feel confident.”

After consulting with engineers and understanding the project’s scope, Lenny decided to hire a contractor. “It was a battle between time and money. My goal was to save time, so I brought in help. In hindsight, it was the right move.”

A peaceful retreat and thriving rental business

Today, Lenny’s SOLO+ 100 is a peaceful retreat for himself and a popular rental for guests. The five-star reviews keep rolling in, with visitors praising the unique architecture and calming atmosphere of the space. For Lenny, it’s more than just a rental – it’s a sanctuary.

“I love my A-frame. It’s a place where I clear my mind, and it seems to have the same effect on guests. People leave feeling inspired, happy, and at peace.”

Advice for tiny house dreamers: Take the leap!

Lenny’s story is a testament to what’s possible with the SOLO+ houses. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or someone who’s only ever assembled furniture, this project is within reach.

“If you’re thinking about building your own A-frame tiny house, don’t hesitate,” Lenny advises. “Whether you build it yourself or hire help, you won’t regret it. We only live once, so why not take a chance?”

With his A-frame standing tall, Lenny has not only created a beautiful space for himself and his guests but also laid the foundation for future A-frame enthusiasts to follow. His journey proves that with the right mindset and the right plan set, you can turn your tiny home dreams into reality.
