Lacuna

At Lacuna we focus on bifold doors in order to make them perfect. That means all research go into this single product. Besides official tests, the doors have been tested in a number of locations worldwide, and in the UK we are used from London to Lerwick. Every single detail has been thought through, but we are continuously aiming at making the Lacuna folding doors even better. Our bifolds are made in thermally modified timber, with a durability equal to teak, and system u-values under 0.8. The triple-sealed doors have passed the best test available for wind: Air permeability EN 12207 - Class 4 at +/-600 Pa and water tightness: EN 12208 - Class E1200, and so are the obvious choice for low energy and passive house projects. The paint on the TMT lasts longer without maintenance than on timber-alu products, as the material adopts the characteristics of a composite or fibre-glass and do not extend nor retract when exposed to moisture or temperature. This means no repainting is required for 25-50 years in normal conditions. The ironmongery is in Danish-design brushed marine-grade steel, so it will not rust even on a sea front location. Lacuna makes bifolds for large openings, up to 2800 mm in height and 6000 mm wide, with the slimmest profile available of any timber folding door. -Only 56 mm per door frame giving a double frame or glass-to-glass width of 117 mm. The top hung system makes the doors roll like a dream as there is no bottom track to keep clean. Our doors are delivered within 7-8 weeks and easy and quick to install. They are supplied flat packed, with typical element weights between 50-70 kgs, so two people can install a large door in a morning, and the doors don't need yearly adjustment.
